On your phone or tablet, the app is called Encore Wave. It's the green wave icon.
Need a hand? Email contact@encore-app.live and I'll get back to you. Encore is built by one working musician, so you're emailing the person who made it.
You can add songs from Google Docs, from files (PDF, Word, ChordPro or text), by pasting a chart, or by typing them in. For Google Docs, sign in with Google, pick the Docs you want, and Encore brings them in and cleans up the chord formatting. Everything else is under Import Songs → From another app.
Formats it reads: ChordPro files (.cho, .chopro, .pro), OnSong exports and pasted OnSong text, chords copied from Ultimate Guitar, and .txt, .docx or PDF chord sheets. PDFs need real text in them, like ones saved from Google Docs, Word or your browser. Scans, photos and Ultimate Guitar's "Download PDF" are pictures, so use the AI tip below for those. Your chords stay where they are, and anything only your old app uses is left out.
Messy charts, scans or photos? Upload them to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, paste the prompt below, then copy the result into Encore: Import Songs → From another app → paste. AI can make mistakes, so give each song a quick look before a gig. Your files go to that AI service, not to Encore.
Convert the attached chord charts into ChordPro format (plain text) so I can import them into the Encore Wave app. Follow these rules exactly:
1. Start each song with {title: Song Title} and, if known, {artist: Artist Name}.
2. If the chart says to use a capo, add {capo: N}. Do not add a key line.
3. Put each chord in square brackets right before the syllable where it's played, inside the lyric line. Example: [G]Hello my [D]friend
4. Keep every chord exactly as written. Don't change, simplify, transpose or correct any chord.
5. Copy lyrics exactly. Don't add, fix or finish lyrics. If you can't read something, write (unclear).
6. Lines with only chords (intros, riffs, turnarounds) go on their own line, like: [G] [D] [Em] [C]
7. Put section names on their own line: Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge, etc.
8. Leave out chord diagrams, page numbers, website text and ads.
9. Put {new_song} on its own line between songs.
10. Reply with only the ChordPro text in one plain-text block, nothing else.
Encore uses inline notation. A chord in brackets like [G] before a word renders that chord right above the lyric. Imported "chords over lyrics" sheets are converted to this format automatically.
Open a song and start Performance mode for a fullscreen dark view. Tap the right side of the screen to scroll down, the left side to scroll up. You can turn on auto-scroll and set its speed, pinch to zoom, and adjust font size with A− / A+. The screen stays awake so it won't dim mid-song.
Encore responds to Bluetooth foot pedals that send arrow, space, or page keys, so you can advance songs and sections hands-free. Each press glides the page down smoothly instead of jumping, so your eyes stay on the line.
Change a song's key by half-steps, set a capo to see easy chord shapes against the true sounding key, and use the per-song metronome with tap-tempo and count-in. In the metronome controls, choose how you see the beat: a pulse around the screen (Halo), dots across the top, or both. If a sheet says "Capo 3" at the top, Encore sets the capo automatically when you import or paste it.
Playing bass with a guitarist who uses a capo? Tap Bass chords next to Key and Capo. Encore swaps the capo shapes for the chords that actually sound, which is what you play. Your device remembers the setting, and it works when you follow a live session too.
Next to Bass chords, pick # (sharps), Auto, or b (flats). Auto follows the key, like a printed chart would. Choose sharps or flats to spell every chord and key one way, so A# always reads Bb if that's how you think. It applies to your setlists and printed PDFs too, and your device remembers it.
Build a setlist for a show, drag the grip on the left (or tap the arrows) to reorder, and tap any song to start the set there. Every song shows its key. Tap Print / PDF for a clean setlist you can print or save for the stage floor. To play off the same charts as your band, host a live session and share the short code. Everyone follows the same song in real time while keeping their own capo.
Your songs and setlists live on your device. If your phone dies, gets lost, or gets replaced the week before a gig, a backup is what gets them back. Set one up before you need it. It takes a minute.
Tap the sync status at the top of the library and sign in with Google. Encore saves your library to your own Google Drive and keeps it up to date across your devices. If you edit on two devices, sync merges the changes song by song. Encore also saves a daily safety copy of your library in your Drive (it keeps the last 7), so if a sync ever goes wrong you can download an earlier copy and restore it with ⋯ → Import Backup. On a new phone or iPad, install Encore, tap the sync status, and sign in with the same Google account. Your library comes right back.
In the library, tap the ⋯ menu next to Import Songs, then Export Backup. On iPhone or iPad, save the file to Files, iCloud Drive, or email it to yourself. To restore, use ⋯ → Import Backup and pick the file. Importing a backup replaces your library on that device, and if you sync with Google Drive, on your other devices too. Do it on a fresh install or when you mean to roll back.
Export a fresh backup after any big import or before a big show. It's also the easiest way to hand your whole library to a bandmate.
If iCloud Backup is on in your iPhone settings, Encore's data is included. Restoring a new phone from that backup brings your library with it. It's a good safety net, but don't count on it alone. Use Option 1 or 2 as well.
No. Encore works fully without any account. Google sign-in is optional and only used for importing your Docs and syncing to your own Drive.
Yes. After the first load, Encore works with no internet connection.
If you synced to Google Drive, install Encore, tap the sync status, and sign in with the same Google account. If you exported a backup file, use ⋯ → Import Backup. If you restored the phone from an iCloud backup, your library should already be there.
Deleting Encore deletes the songs stored on that device. Anything synced to Google Drive or saved in a backup file is safe, and you can bring it back the same way as a new phone. If you haven't backed up yet, do that first.
